Daimler India Commercial Vehicles (DICV), a subsidiary of Daimler Truck, has signed a non-binding agreement with the state of Tamil Nadu for an investment of approximately Rs40 billion ($419.1 million). This investment will be used for BharatBenz product development, manufacturing, research and development, infrastructure, and technology readiness, and is expected to generate around 400 jobs. The total investment by DICV in India will exceed Rs145 billion. DICV currently operates a 400-acre integrated manufacturing and R&D site at Oragadam, near Chennai, where it employs over 4,000 staff and works with more than 400 local suppliers.
