Petrobras Discovers Hydrocarbons in Amapá Offshore, Strengthening Brazil's Exploration Potential

Brazilian oil giant Petrobras has made an exploration discovery of hydrocarbons off the state of Amapá, marking its first find in this region and strengthening Brazil's potential for further discoveries. The Morpho well, located in ultra-deep waters of the Foz do Amazonas Basin, has identified a hydrocarbon-bearing interval through electrical well logs and indications in rock. Drilling is ongoing, but the size, type, and quality of the hydrocarbons, as well as any estimate of recoverable resources, have not been disclosed. This discovery supports Petrobras' plans to establish a new exploration province in Amapá, which lies at the northern end of Brazil's Equatorial Margin.
