Encompass Health CFO Sells Shares Amidst Earnings Jump

Key takeaways

  • Encompass Health CFO sold shares for $2.4 million
  • Company operates in diversified post-acute healthcare
  • Market cap is $12.5 billion, TTM revenues are $6.2 billion

Douglas E. Coltharp, the EVP and chief financial officer of Encompass Health Corporation (NYSE:EHC), sold 18,869 shares of common stock on August 10 for a total transaction value of approximately $2.4 million. This sale reduced his direct ownership but left the majority of his equity indirectly held through trusts and his spouse.

The company operates a diversified post-acute healthcare platform delivering inpatient rehabilitation services and home health and hospice care across the United States. Encompass Health Corporation has a market capitalization of $12.5 billion, TTM revenues of $6.2 billion, and a strong net income margin of approximately 10%.

The sale came on the same day as a larger sale from the CEO, but Coltharp's trim was modest compared to the CEO's reduction. The CFO's small sale into the company's strength is seen as easy to set aside by shareholders, with the more important question being whether Encompass Health continues to meet the financial targets raised by Coltharp.

The Motley Fool Stock Advisor analyst team did not include Encompass Health in their list of top 10 stocks for investors to buy now.
